iOS 5.1 tethered jailbreak now available

iOS 5.1 tethered jailbreak now availableLess than 24 hours have passed since its release, yet iOS 5.1 has already been cracked open. If you have an iDevice other than the iPhone 4S or the iPad 2, you can jailbreak it and still have iOS 5.1 running on it by using the latest version of the Redsn0w jailbreaking tool.

Be aware, however, that the jailbreak is tethered, meaning that you will need to repeat the procedure every time your device needs a reboot. The SemiTether trick has been confirmed to work, but it is still quite limited when compared to a full-blown untethered experience. Still, a tethered jailbreak is better than having no jailbreak at all, right?

If you would like to jailbreak your iPhone or iPad now, the guys at Redmond Pie have put together a detailed tutorial explaining the procedure step by step. It is available at the link below, so check it out for more info. Of course, it is strongly recommended that you proceed only if you are familiar with the risks of jailbreaking and only if you know exactly what you are doing.
